Overview

This residential apartment project in Canberra was designed with the goal of achieving a high-performance energy rating suitable for the colder climate conditions of the Australian Capital Territory.

 

Project Description

Canberra’s climate requires buildings to retain heat efficiently during winter while preventing overheating during summer. To support this objective, our team conducted detailed NatHERS modelling and energy optimisation throughout the design process.

 

The modelling evaluated insulation performance, glazing specifications, solar orientation, and passive heating strategies. By carefully balancing these elements, the design team was able to significantly improve the thermal performance of the development.

 

The final modelling outcome achieved an 8-Star NatHERS rating, representing an excellent level of energy efficiency and indoor comfort for residential buildings in colder Australian climates.
